The protest goes on, albeit at a snails pace, the speed being determined by the council to deliberately try to p*ss us off, and to get us to get fed up, and go away, and leave them alone. We aren't going away, we are not going to leave them alone, we have had some compromise, but we are continuing to push for more of a compromise. Here's an interesting photo to show the real purpose of the concrete plinths; Got the photo on here at last.

Just another bit of an update, a few hardy members of the committee met with the engineer again last Friday morning at the site, in the lashings of rain. They again emphasised the need for a significant reduction is size of the concrete build outs. If Kildare County Council think that the committee is just going to get fed up and go away, they are wrong. The committee are in this for the long haul and will persevere. They may not get it removed completely but it wont stop them trying.
They are expecting a response from the engineer fairly soon. A special word of thanks to Suzanne Doyle who has given a lot of help and has worked with, and for the committee all the way.

Any word what the compromise is between the committee and KCC ,and when is there another meeting to inform everyone who went to all the previous meeting.Would it not have been best to hold a meeting before the committee decided to make a deal to get peoples taughts on the matter, it now just seems that the committee has just given into KCC. So much for the committee in it for the long haul as mentioned above.

Tumb thank you for the words of encouragement! We have been keeping people informed, newsletter, here, local papers, KFM. We will have a public meeting just as soon as we have something to offer. Up until now KCC. Have been offering almost nothing. The committee and dedicated supporters have been over to Naas at least twice, there has been lots if meetings with our own advisor and with KCC. The committee will not make a decision, it is not our role to make a decision, we will as I said get the best offer we can and bring that to a public meeting for those who attend to make the decision.
There has hardly been a week go by,that the committee hasn't been doing something to try and have this resolved, despite KCC doing their utmost to slow things down try and piss us off (not the only ones) even the deadline of last week when the engineer was supposed to come back to us has passed and once again someone will have to chase him up.

It was on the KFM website that a compromise was agreed last week and that KCC did not budge on what they had put on the table,so there is no truth in that report.I do understand the work the committee have put into this.

The top picture is the drawing from the engineer showing the proposed changes;
The Radii are shaved off the corners at both Paul Cullens and the CYMS corners to make it easier to get around the corners without going up on the Kerbs.
There is a chunk of the concrete being taken out at Earleys shop end on that side as well, the shaded area on the map.
There is a chunk of concrete being taken out at the corner on the River side on the canal end., the shaded area again
There is 1.5 metres to be taken off all along the river side, reducing the width of the concrete and widening the road.
The bottom picture is an example of the singage and bollards that are proposed to be used to pretty up whats left. WE are going to talk to Tidy Towns, Hopkins Society and the Historical Society to see what information we could put on the display board. Any one any other ideas ?
The junction surface itself is to be relaid with new tarmac.
The drainage is to be sorted out.
We are still in discussion with them using real kerbs, instead of just the mass concrete.
Come along next Tuesday night for a closer look and discussion...

I don't have an update because I missed the last meeting. Last I knew is that we had gone back to the engineer with some requests, as far as I know he hasn't responded yet. That has been the tactic all along, delay, delay, delay. Bear in mind I missed the last meeting, he may have gotten back to them, I will try and find out.

I do have a bit of an update, the usual stuff is going on, he says, we say, its his fault its delayed, its our fault etc. Bottom line, the current sticking point is kerbs, he (the engineer) wants just to leave the mass concrete as is, he doesn't want to spend extra on proper kerbs, we want proper kerbs. The sign and the bollards are pretty much agreed on.
