the only thing's that appear's to be growing in town is council removing our heritage. won't be long before we will all be remembering the time when main street was wide enough to turn an articulated lorry on it. now you couldn't turn an ass and cart.

At last I have a way of displaying the initial repsonse from the Council, have a look and let me know if you can see it. I will also leave a copy into the Library. www.kildare.ie/community/easysites/monasterevin/2012/03/moasterevin_pro.htmlAlso please note this issue is due to be discussed at the full county council meeting next Monday, 26th at 2pm. People are encouraged to attend, to show the council that we still mean business. The Council tactics to date, is to slow everything down and hope we will go away and forget about it. We dont want to do that, we are still fighting this on several fronts, directly to the council, through the newspapers and radio, we are getting expert technical advice. We are also going through some TDs to see if they will help us. We are having a full public meeting next Thursday night in St Pauls Secondary School. Everyone is invited, people who have already attended meetings and new people who are only hearing about it lately.

Don't know why I didn't think of it at the beginning. Its so long since I made an update to the Main Monasterevin Online Website, that I almost forgot about it.

We were at the full council meeting today, long wait till our motion came up. Bottom line, Suzanne Doyle gave her all, including threatening a section 4 on the County mgr Michael Malone. He as much as said even if the motion was passed by the councillors, he still wouldn't have the concrete removed. He asked for a stay on the motion for another month for discussions with the local representatives and the people of Monasterevin. There was an eventual counter proposal to this effect and it was passed by casting vote by the Mayor.
This meant that our motion didnt get to go for the vote. We live to fight for another month however, the council officials are, including Mgr Malone and senior engineer O Leary are digging in and not admitting they made a mistake. My personal feeling, they wouldn't put it in again, but probably won't take it out.
We will fight on.

I have scanned it, how do I get the pdf file on here ? I only noticed this now - you can attach a pdf of < 1,024 KB using the "Attachment:" option. If you have multiple pdfs then do one for each post.

suzanne doyle really gave all today, and i must say i was very impressed by her. so let's not have her argument today be for nothing. if a woman from kildare town can show that much spirit for monasterevan, let's show them what the monasterevan people can do for their town, be at the meeting thursday night.

can you hear the laughter coming out of naas-- that's the co council laughing at the so called protest to them about the monstrosity. fuxk all people are showing any interest in getting them removed. so at the next meeting, when it's been decided what date it's on, bring at least 2 people with you. this could be our last chance. so set the sky+ to record emmerdale or whatever programme that's keeping you in. show some ball's.

What happened at the meeting last Thursday night? coocullen - what issues do you have?
I haven't been involved in this much but from my perspective I think the lack of respective shown to our community is appauling. I think we should continue to push them on all path issues in the town. For instance, if I take the left turn after the texaco garge down toward the monasterevin football pitch and on to supervalu - there is no path on this road despite quite abit of development. It's really quite dangerous and I see people walking and running on the road here quite alot.
So many paths are in a state of dis-repair and could do with upgrading. What would be really good would be to set up a Slí na Sláinthe down by the canal (again no paths) which could be a really lovely walk if lighting was added (again very dangerous).
For the council to come along and stick a load of concrete, lights and signs around the town without proper consulation was ridiculous.

JC you amaze me !! You are on here looking for updates on this and updates on that !! There are people in this town that dont own a computer let alone know what a forum is. So make it your business to get to a meeting... by the way you do have alot to contribute so go on show your face.... Im guilty too... I havent been to a meeting and I will be there next time ..

archie, unfortunately I work in Dublin and am often not home in the evening until after 8pm. I also have two young kids. Anyway, I have been trying to get involved in the MCFC project. There are over 3,000 people in Monasterevin but mostly the same faces are involved in everything. I think these people are amazing but at least I'm interested and try to help where I can. What about the other 2,900 people!
One of the main tasks of any of these groups is to find a way to reach out to the whole town to get them involved. Especially the newer residents.
