Copied from the South Kildare Against Spin facebook page (

1. Talk To Your Neighbors and Others Within Kildare and the Midland Counties.
Many residents do not understand the severity of this situation. Pro-wind groups want to keep it that way. Our voice is power! Make your neighbours aware. Encourage them to get involved as well.
Other Kildare residents (outside of the at proposed project area) are unaware of the dangers of irresponsible industrial wind development. They've only heard that the County and Country will benefit financially. In addition, they are unaware that this is just the first phase of more to come. Other areas of the Country will be next... We need to reach out to the rest of Kildare so they can have a voice before it's too late.
Make sure to:
*Share your concerns regarding property value loss, health, safety, welfare and loss of rural character.
*Make others aware by asking them to spread the word.
*Tell them about this page
2. Put Up a Yard Sign
Putting up a yard sign will help let others know how you feel. Signs are an important part of the effort to fight for what is right. It Doesn't have to be a fancy sign, just get your message across. Signs on public roads are liable to be removed by the county council
3. Contact your local representative
Email or call. Let them know you are concerned about your property values, health safety, welfare and the "Industrial overlay" that will destroy our vistas. Tell them about the risk to the bloodstock industry in Kildare. Ask them to put their responsibility to you before all else. County Councillor contact info can be found here:
kildare.ie/CountyCouncil/CorporateServices/CorporateServices/MembersServices/Councillors/Talk to your Local Councillor, your Local TD, your Local MEP. They are there to represent your views. Many of them were unaware oof the significant risks associated with this project until they attended the information meeting on the 14th August.
4. Talk to a Lease Signer.
Having a friendly conversation with a lease signer can have lasting effects. Some lease signers are completely unaware of the substantial impacts their decision to sign will have on others. For some, understanding the harsh realities of hosting Industrial Wind Turbines in our rural residential community may possibly help change their minds. Contrary to popular belief, it isn't too late until the turbines have been constructed!
5. Write to the local papers, contact KFM, Contact the National Papers and National media.
A free press is one of the pillars of democracy. Why do you think the local media were excluded from the briefing given to County Councillors by Element Power?.
Fortunately in Kildare we have two wonderful local papers in the Leinster Leader and the Kildare Nationalist. Write to them, let them know your concerns. Same goes for KFM and the National media. Don't be afraid to let your voice be heard.
6. Come to our meetings, like our facebook page for regular updates.
7. Educate yourself about wind power so that when their people come around you can ask them the right questions.
8. Get angry. Our blood should be boiling at the mere suggestion that a group of carpet baggers have the nerve to come into the midlands with a money making scam such as this one. This is our and our children's country and it's not for sale!
