Have only work with a couple those and found them to be ok, the rest I'll have to take your word for it. I could give you a list of some of the more ruthless one's but I'd be only name dropping, as for my delusion, 25 years as a specialist sub contractor has given me a fair share of bad experiences. As a construction professional you surely know that in the current climate a subbie is the most exposed person on any site.

Thanks for the wind farm proximity info Ballboy. 7 miles is pretty close to us. That said. I've come across no local public information meetings regarding these farms. Information has been circulating in mainstream press and environmental web sites for a year or more but local info sources (TDs, councillors etc) are keeping schtum. Discussions with landowners are not public so the news has not been well spread. I'm sure thats deliberate and thats what I object to.
I dont begrudge anyone making a living off the farms, we need all the jobs we can get right now. Its the price we may once again pay - in lifestyle deterioration or cost of living increases - for jobs of any description. We've been sold out so many times, everyone is now permanently dizzy.
Its not very clear if we will get _any_ electricity from the farms. Is anyone in a position to get clarity from anyone on this point ?
Heard from a good source there are problems with wind farm construction @mt Lucas due to the proximity of Clumbologue airfield. So these projects will be not shoehorned in on top of us if they mess with existing guidelines.
I also noticed yesterday out on the bike that there are fields being cleared on north face of the Hill of Allen. Would this be a site for one of these farms ?
