Fair dues forester you don't miss much. it looks to me that she is from Ordinance Survey. Did you see an OS VAN ? Our new paths are soo big they can be seen fom satellite. Joking apart it suggests they are been mapped in permanently for new maps.

A quick report on the meeting with the council yesterday. The official report will be given to the meeting next week, this is my impression of the meeting. We met 3 officials, local engineer, county engineer and the guy over roads and transportation. there were 3 councillors Spike Nolan, Susan Doyle and Paddy Kennedy.
Bottom Line, they gave their side, we gave our side, they offered to review the works completed and might be prepared to 'SOFTEN' the edges. They will come back to the Council area committee for the March meeting. In my opinion there is about a 5% chance of a change. They realy played hardball and didn't concede much other than the edges on the CYMS side were a little severe. The plinth on the garden side was not for moving. Thy quoted various policy and road calming rules and regulations and believe that what they have done is a good thing for traffic and particularly vulnerable pedestrians.
On the aesthetics and cultural issues they don't seem to care, their admission not my opinion. We have an opportunity to go after this from the cultural / heritage pov, health and safety according to them is fine. There will be full minutes from the meeting at our local meeting this week.
We need to keep the pressure on, I think, they think, that if they hold out long enough it will go away.

Forester sorry didn't get back to you in time. The meeting wasn't advertised very well, apologies to all. There was a good few there not as many as the last meeting.
The minutes of the meeting with the council were read, very long and not terribly revealing. My summary above more or less summed up. One new piece of info, they are looking for aroun 20 people to turn up at the council meeting I think on Tuesday morning next at 10 am. They meeting and committee are still very determined to carry on the fight.

I missed it as well for the same reason as forester,i also know of 6 others who had no idea it was on,if the committee want peoples help and support they are going to have to engage more with the people who are willing to show up and help.

What is it with communication in the town. I feel like I'm banging my head against a brick wall at times to get updates on the recreation centre. That too started out with a large public meeting a year ago but now is confined to peopel in the know!
I'm certainly in favour of pushing the council all the way on this, if only to highlight the lack of councilors in the area and that they have no idea what the town actually needs. They just sweep in thinking they are doing something great and make a mess of it.

hi all this is my first post, dont be to hard on me. I am very keen on the idea of a town council to try and improve our town(born and reared in monasterevin). the committe is not made of professionals so dont judge them on communication faults. Even for non mass goers the newsletter is a great source of information, try and get one weekly, you can pick them up in the parish office I think. Ros can you confirm for me and anyone else the time date and location of the council meeting coming up. I know the committe were hoping for 30 people to go over to fill the gallery. I would take a few hours off if I know where and when. just my last word on my first post THIS IS NOT JUST ABOUT THE ROAD WORKS ON MAIN STREET this is a chace to stand together as a town to decide the futher of our own town.
