My computer crashed today. don't know what the hell happened. But I lost everything. I had to re-boot the thing with the disk. Luckily I had got a new hard drive and loaded all photos on to it last night! But all documents, anti-virus stuff, printer stuff etc, all gone. I am pig sick. Our power went off this morning when I was on the computer, when the power came on again, I restarted the computer and power went again. This happened a few times today and eventually the computer packed it's bags and left!! I'm using the work computer now, thankfully it was off at the time and not affected.

Don't know Joe, all I do know is that everything is gone, apart from the photos I put on the hard drive. I had a lot of work files on it, as I do a lot of work here in the house. I'll never keep anything again without backing it up.

I'll never keep anything again without backing it up. It's usually all still there except that you can't get at it. A PC repair place/person can access the hard disk and recover the files unless it is really screwed up.

But I had to re-boot it using the disc, you know the blue disc for re-installation. So everything is really gone.

did you not use "system restore".......? it goes back to a time "before" the crash and you can restore everything you had.... google it and it will explain better than I can.....
mg... there is nothing worse than a pc acting up.... except maybe for a car breaking down....

Ooh, the crafty bastards. Sorry kway, is it just trial and error, or do you have to find the proper site. What about this one? www.nero.com/eng/index.html
