I don't agree with the view that the '' developer'' destroyed the country, the government we elected and the unregulated bankers f==ked our country, thank God we had the sense to toss out Fianna Fail and give them a good kick in the arse to boot. I worked in construction for the last 20 years, what I and half the people on the dole wouldn't give for a developer now.

i am sorry for everyone who is on the dole now....
However, regarding the property developers if they did not get so greedy and borrowed to the hilt we would not be in this mess. As for the banks and the politicians they were as much to blame as the bankers just fueled the greed by lending the money, whilst the politicians turned a blind eye..... everyone has to take responsibility for themselves.... and in this instance the property developers did not as they borrowed far more than they could ever pay back.....

Again I think its too simple to point the finger at the developer, all these houses were built because the money required to build them was easily available. To fund this the banks made it easy for people to borrow, in a lot of cases over borrow, we all know the stories about people going for say 150k and coming out with 200k, this was a regular thing. There was also cases where people were refused large amounts by own their banks only to be given it by other mortgage lenders. Money or more to the point credit was been thrown around like confetti, there was nobody regulating it . We elect a government to run the country, regulate these things and we pay a civil service to look after our interests, they left it to the bankers who's only interest was to make a profit at all costs. We are now in the state we are in because the last government guaranteed all the credit those banks were giving out I do not for one second believe that the last government did not know what they were doing, I honestly believe that the bubble really burst in 2003-4 and from that point on we were engaged in a pyramid scheme

..with regards to Ming smokin' the pot, sure i reckon probably half of us here on this forum had an oul' smoke at some stage..... :)as i said before he wouldn't be the first politician to break the law .....but he is entitled to his "spake",same as Mick Wallace, and the other independents ,and all them other guys and gals in the smart ties and sharp suits....... ..saw Enda on the news tonight on his return to Castlebar,i wish him well, hope he has a better future than BC when he came back to Tullamore.........nice to see one of his supporters waving the tricolour....as the shinners seem to think they had the sole rights to that flag during the election........

as i said before we all have to take responsibility for our own actions.... it goes back to the basics.... and of course pure greed....
just because ming 'is not the first politican to break the law' that doesnt make it right. if he was say for arguements sake like some of our other politicans who say were caught drink driving... peoples attitude would be totally different... breaking the law is breaking the law..... thats what got this country into the state its in...... you scratch my back and ill scratch yours.... typically of the small minded politicians of this country.....

At the risk of been called a shiner, wouldn't it have being great if the rest of them flew the tricolor instead of their party colors. Tell you what sickens me is the Fianna Failers talking about this being a great time to rebuild the party and I say this as a former supporter, I will not forgive them for what the did to my country and no amount of spin will change my mind . I sincerely hope the current government can make things a little easier for the little people cause its going to get a lot tougher before it gets better

The funny thing about the little people is they don't know they're little people, they're actually the middle class. I happened to be in County Council housing office to-day and what I witnessed would sicken you, it did me anyway. The place was full of non nationals, all looking for and likely to be housed, now I don't consider myself to be racist but I do believe we have become a real soft touch. If all the financial data is to be believed mother Ireland cannot sustain this carry on for much longer

It can often be easier to accede to their demands than the alternative. Some have become very informed and know how to claim for everything going. We have always had an element of our own doing the same thing but now we have professional claimers from abroad to give ours a run for their money.
