Every morning I walk through Tesco carpark and then through the small adjoining carpark. Lately (monday mornings) I've noticed that people are dumping items at Barts Charity shop expecting the charity workers to take them in. Thes items are not in great condition and can only regarded as dumping ie : old fashioned computer monitors & towers, old pushchairs, baby items to name just a few.

I was talking to someone there one day and they said that much stuff left in is no use to them.

Yes that's dumping, it seems to be done at night. There was a black bag containing CD's bust open and strewn around, there this morning, I can't understand why people can't just hand in items.Of course they won't pay to get rid of their rubbish!!

I thought you couldn't give any electrical items to a charity shop? You certainly can't with Vincent's or NCBI shop. Is there no CCTV in that area, the people concerned should be fined under the litter act. If they really want to give to the charity and are going to work early and home after it shuts, couldn't they ask a neighbour to deliver for them, if they're legitimate.

The reason charity shops generally don't accept electrical goods, is that they then become subject to the various restrictions that apply when you sell electrical goods eg you must accept 'one of that type back'as in the ordinary electrical retailers. The costs of a) registration and b) compliance are too great for a charity shop.

People can dispose of Electrical Items for free at any Council run Recycling Facility and also at Weee Recycling - this comes to Tesco (Celbridge) carpark and details and the schedule are available on the website (Weee). There is no excuse for dumping.

Some people are just inconsiderate scum and they'll dump anywhere as long as it's gone from their house. Last year a huge amount, approx 6 bags, of bottles and cans were dumped down the road from me.. despite their being so many bottle banks in Celbridge, Leixlip, Lucan and Maynooth. Scum, no other word for it.

Got a few dumped bags last week and one item in them was a littering fine from KCC, just goes to show some don't care about littering fines either.
