We've 540-odd forum members, and the most we get is a handful of comments a day. Unless of course, we talk about begging on Celbridge's main street or something. Where's everyone gone?

I don't use Facebook but did register on it about two years ago just to do searches and find people. I disabled my account when I started getting email requests from people to become their friends on Facebook, I don't really want to be sharing what I had for breakfast and whatever else and maybe spending too much time checking who's doing what and rattling through millions of photos.
The forums are less complicated to check up on and topics are clearly laid out. People on forums don't have to be your friends so you can have a row now and then.
As for rightsoted I think he's been checking out Kate and gone a bit off track.

Through Facebook, I've gotten in touch with lots of old schoolfriends and work colleagues, long-lost relatives, even a few ex-girlfriends (just the nice non-nutball ones, completely innocent, yer honour) and believe it or not, an old schoolteacher or two. Joe, it can be totally adjusted to your own preferences. I too, was tired of seeing photos of people's lunches, shots of famous people at concerts from 912 yards and pics of people cats etc, so now I don't, and I choose who I hear from, and who sees my stuff too. There are scores, if not hundreds of Celbridge folk on Facebook that I know personally, I must try to push the forum on them again.

Same here howya.. I met up with schoolfriends I hadn't seen in 33 years because of facebook and we all celebrated our 50th birtdays up in the Slieve Russell in Cavan over a weekend. Sometimes I don't want to hear about the tiny minutae of their day, so I can choose to not hear so much from them... The forum is different, you don't know who you're chatting with half the time, and I do try and visualise the person based on what they're saying..... you should see my vision of Mr Angry!!!! ha ha

ah ye, once you know how to actually manage your facebook page you can view and have it exactly as you want it. You really need to read up on the privacy settings etc and once you figure this out its great. Lots of people cant be bothered especially young people but I am really careful about who I allow access to and then when they have access what they can actually see..... it is complicated but worth it in the end.... I enjoy keeping in touch with my friends who live abroad.....
It is fun trying to visualise what everyone here looks like.... and their personalities too... its just a difference experience here thats all... but one i really enjoy.....

Well Forester your avatar says it all. Might be time to button up with the cooler weather coming in and all, we don't want you frightening too many at Halloween.
I was thinking of running a tour bus down to Monasterevin to see how many forum members we can spot and tie up with names.

I was thinking of running a tour bus down to Monasterevin to see how many forum members we can spot and tie up with names. avatar shows I am still on the ball (gettit) and as for members you will be able to spot here. solution is simple-just go into one of the eight public houses still operating in town, and you will find at least 75% of us.then you can buy us a pint or two, so bring your old age pension. ;D. monasterevan members, I am jokin about pubs, so don't take this seriously .
