Does anyone know a company that do house cover only? i.e. no contents cover. I presume if there is such cover it should be cheaper.

Some are insisting on a monitored alarm system and it has to be up to certain standards etc. or they won't entertain claims. I have nothing worth robbing and the system is not monitored except by my neighbours.

For the second week in a row we've had morons trying to rob cars along our road... no one ever comes in here and I'd say it's because we have cameras all over the place

most insurance companies will cover you once you tell them up front that it is not monitored. THey may charge a little extra. I know we get a discount because ours is monitored. But if you state you have a house alarm you wont be insured if you accidently forget to set it and then you are burgled. I dont see why they wouldnt insure your house. Sure what to landlords do... they just insure their building... but not contents......

Maybe I should have added that they do better deals if it is monitored and lesser if it is not.

I don't know the answer to the question, but would suggest contacting one of the financial institutions that (in the past) provided mortgages. The reason for this is that the mortgage would contain a clause that the property (not the contents) had to be insured and the mortgage company could arrange such insurance for the borrower. Such companies are likely to be happy to assist and boost their cash-flow situation (they get a commission on the policy). It is most likely that such buildings only cover will be cheaper than the cost of buildings and contents only cover; but not necessarily by the cost of the contents cover. Such may arise because the age of the homeowner qualifies for a discount which is applied to the total policy cost, and no such discount is available for buildings only cover.

I didn't try too hard and ended up paying house and contents insurance.
