Anyone affected by the the shambles that is Ulster Bank? It's a computer software problem, they say. Well, I've been on the receiving end of their incompetence for years. They "lost" our mortgage pack with the original deeds for our apartment. Had to have new deeds drawn up. Then my sister in law realized that, according to UB, her mortgage was with me and not her husband. There were loads of other examples but the upshot is I am not in the slightest bit surprised by their incompetence.

Ulster Bank are blaming the mothership RBS so it's not directly their fault.

now it's not ulster bank-but bank of ireland query-- you use your laser card to buy item in shop, money is deducted from your account straight away-- now item you purchased is returned within an hour. b.o.i. is sent refund notice from shop. however it takes nearly 5 workin days for money to go back into your account. anyone know answer to this one.

Think of it this way - when you purchase something on laser the money comes out of your account immediately and is on the way to the shop, maybe slowly. If you get a refund then it's up to the shop to send the money back to the bank. Maybe the shop have not received your money yet and it has to go through the full motions of showing up in the shop accounts before the shop send it back. The shop may hold on to the money for a few days before sending back. I know it's all electronic banking and funds transfer etc. but there are accountants out there to do the checks and balances and inbuilt safety systems in the whole shebang. Next time try out the trousers before you bring it home
