Trojans are a bad thing to have on your computer, once in they can allow a hacker gain access to your PC. The name came from the Greek Trojan horse story where the wooden horse was brought inside the fortress not knowing the enemy were hiding within and at night they sneaked out and took control. Your antivirus software should have picked it up and deleted it before any trouble is caused. How do you know you have a Trojan?

I thought you had avg april? that should have stopped it!! Are you on Facebook. I know there is a big virus going through it at the moment. I got a warning, so I didn't open the link. It's on a link where you can view who has been looking at your profile. I'd say you can pick up a trojan fairly easily, through e-mails, you tube etc.

I got a pop up on my desktop asking if i wanted to update my "real player"..... it seemed so genuine that i didn't think twice...... and I do have AVG localy.... so it bypassed that.... i ran spybot and i did eventually delete it.... although it took 3 tries of 40mins each... all gone now TG.... so be on the lookout....

poor girl.... all those infections.... she is lucky to be alive...
Has she no virus protection? You can download free AVG and also Spybot plus others to keep your computer clean and free from virus's... Im surprised the laptop even worked with trojans.... it must have been like a snail.....

warning--just got hit by a security virus. security shield(the virus) flashed onto my screen giving me a warning. seconds later this bugger come's onto screen looking like it was checking for virus's. then it told me i had 17 trojan's and other rubbish. to remove i had to click ok. then the bugger asked for my details and credit card number to purchase this security shield. it wouldn't let me open any thing else on the computer. i contacted a brainy mate who talked me through getting rid of the bastxxd. so beware folks cos i run my cleaner's on a regular basis and i can't figure out why i got hit.

Better to have an anti virus programme that is always on and automatically updates itself. Also make sure your windows ( presume you have windows ) firewall is turned on.

You need something like Norton protection but you have to pay yearly for it ( €30 or so ). You can pick up bad stuff by browsing into some websites or opening some emails. Maybe the smart man in the pub has bad stuff but doesn't realise it. There are many free ways of keeping your windows computer protected but you are not guaranteed they are up to date. For peace of mind you need to subscribe to someone providing the service.
You can have trojans on your PC and they cause no performance problems but give out your personal info to others so if you don't scan for them or have constant protection you won't know.
