A suggested solution to any disputes over polls is - in future polls will only be polls and not votes and will reflect the view of those who participate in the polls. Following on from a forum related poll the view of those who participated will be taken into account. If the response to a poll is overwhelming, say more than 50 participants, then the poll result will command a greather status in an overall decision. The decision of Admin is final.

well considering we have 274 members and only eight voted, it is gonna take a hell of a time to get 50 voters, so we wouldn't want to be holding our breaths here!!!

Can I ask Chew Chew why the forum needed to be locked in the first place, did I miss something. Did someone abuse the forum. Was it spam or botnets that did the harm. I hope it is ok to ask ? If there is a good reason, well that would explain a lot....

Why on earth have the forum closed anyway? Anyone with half a brain can get in quite easily. As for chews decision I wonder whether the adimistrators/ moderators have been influenced by a rap on the knuckles from boards??!!!! It would make a lot of sense.

If there is a good reason, well that would explain a lot.... We had a troublemaker recently and he got banned. As a slight precaution the casual public viewing to the forum was blocked so only people who logged in could view. There are some extra admin functions available when people have to login and to protect members from further exposure to the troublemaker the forum is temporarily "locked".

Joe, by troublemaker do you mean the person who pointed out certain bigotted postings to the liffey champion?? Hmm, and by "protect" members from the trouble maker does that entail riding roughshod over contributors views(not directed at you Joe)?! And like I already said it is very easy to bypass your administrative securities. I do not believe for an instant that locking the forum has anything to do with protecting contributors from a troublemaker. It is about protecting certain individuals from further criticism.

The "troublemaker" tended to be abusive towards posters he didn't agree with and rather than arguing out matters and keep it within the forum he went to the media. The forum is here to encourage free speech and say things as you see them and not hold back because you think something might not be P.C. There are no great "Administrative securities" on this forum, the forum is merely monitored by humans who can decide if someone needs to get yellow or red carded. People can sneak back in again under a new name and IP address and remain undetected until picked up by a vigilant forum user or moderator. Leaving the forum "closed" provides a small bit of extra logging for checking back on users to see if there are irregularities. The forum admin is just being super cautious and is gaining experience from the daily happenings and being a girl/woman can change her mind for no apparent reason.
