Hey, ever since they dropped the speed limit on the road to the N4 past Weston tailgating on that stretch seems to have become far worse. This morning was particularly bad. Considering the frost I would have thought people would leave extra space, but I had someone driving on my bumper from Young's Cross all the way. I was doing the speed limit, and there was a line of traffic in front of me, so its not like I could have increased my speed even if I wanted to. On two occasions, once travelling towards Celbridge, and once going the other way, I have had people overtake causing oncoming traffic to brake sharply.
Again I'll point out I'm not driving slowly, I'm doing the speed limit. They really need to consider doing something here. Either raise the limit back to 80 or enforce the lower limit. Its just dangerous as it is. Its not possible to move over to let people past on that road, so people really need to just keep their distance. Can they not realise its much easier to overtake if they leave a decent gap so that they can see what's coming, and have the room to accelerate past when the opportunity comes. Who would be best to contact about this, the Garda or KCC?

To stop people tailgating I often give little touches to the brake so as the brake lights come on but not slowing the car. Sometimes even the hazard warning lights to help wake them up. I don't think the Garda will do much with a complaint unless there are accidents. Also not KCC's area as it's in Dublin.

When I am 80km on that road at 5:30 AM my car is the slowest .... but on Sat / Sun ... weekends drivers with 50km on it make a lot of people angry.

Well the speed limit is 60km and it's not for safety it's for money, so watch out there are often speed camera guys in at the old entrance to Weston Airport, or down past the turn off to the old Lucan Road, and I think it's 50km around there!!

I've occasionally seen a bike stopped along there all right, but can't remember seeing a speed camera recently. They seem far more interested in putting those on the 3 lane N4, instead of narrow, dark back roads. Anyway I'll be sticking to the 60km/h limit. It does also drop to 50 just after the entrance to Weston. I'm not risking an accident or 3 points on my licence just because someone behind thinks they should be allowed go faster. I'll stop ranting now.
