Any Eircom customers in the town who want faster broadband and triple play capability, please register your interest in getting fibre rolled out across Monasterevin here www.eircom.net/efibre/form/PS you need your account number (phone number not good enough anymore !)

I wouldn't hold my breath, got a very non commital reply from Eircom Account Manager, about NGN being rolled out nationwide, blah de blah, but nothing definite for Monasterevin. She did register my organisations interest in Fibre, which is the original purpose of this thread.

Guy from Vodafone called to the door last night with a good deal on phone and broadband -->19.99 for 1st 6 months (ie no line rental), bb speed of upto 24 MB. Rises to 38.00 pm (phone + broadband => no line rental) thereafter, still way cheaper than any other offer.
Portloaise exchange increasing to 50MB fibre June 1st and Monasterevin 24 MB. Next stop fibre to our door....

I'm holding out to see what eircom's new VDSL will bring me. The eircom fibre will be to the nearest distribution box to houses and then feed out to the copper wiring for the last mile or less, more than a mile in some cases. They are planning TV, internet and phone.
