Hi Mevingal,
I met a fella who lives in the cottages @ Ballykelly lock who had spoken to the guys working on the Mill. They told him it has been bought by Jamesons and will be a new whiskey distillery. The supply of bog water is the key in the production of Irish whiskey and the Mill has a stream flowing through it from the bog so its a perfect fit apparently. Hopefully there'll be some jobs for the local community from it. Ill volunteer as a taster if there's a space going. :-)

That's a good news story, I like whiskey! I hope any possible future turbine construction work doesn't interfere with the stream flow or water quality.

Highly unlikely Joe but just to make sure I will apply for a job there as a taster, you know yourself you can't have the good name of Irish whiskey tarnished and if I am successful I will endeavour no matter how distasteful it may be to sample a couple of wee drams from every vat on a daily basis,

On a side note it will be great to see a distillery back in Monasterevin, I am open to correcting but its must be approx 80 years since Cassidys Distillery closed its doors, its was one of the towns biggest employers back in the day
