Hi,
Im doing some research on future bb provision around the area and I need a list of telephone exchange names - is there more than one etc etc .
Does anyone know where I might find such info online or does anyone know the names offhand ?

www.markwebb.net/map/ I think there is only one in Monasterevin, what info you looking for Steve, I might know a guy that knows a guy that does a lot of the technical installs and upgrades in exchanges.

I also know that there is guy who at least looks at this forum, who knows this technical guy a lot better than me. He indeed is in the same business and might put some info on here.

Thanks for the links ROS
That tender looks like the job from the ESB. Wonder how long it will take to get going ?
I've been reading around on boards.ie, ireland-offline etc to see what is going on with regard to an NGB roll-out around us . There's lots of "maybes" and "possiblys" but feck all concrete action.
We're not on any of the town lists scheduled to be upgraded. But then we never make it on to those lists because we're invisible to powers that be as I've learned from MRUG and previous broadband petition efforts. We just need to make some noise.
I've moved away from UPC in the last few weeks so sick have I become of their "four-in-one" ad campaigns when we're stuck with shitty MMDS around here. its the pits, really is.
Is it a case of writing to our representatives once again ?

Latest from a journey through the broadband undergrowth I posted the following info gleaned from IrelandOffline up onto Boards.ie: "I took a look at the IrelandOffline bb map and compared the current/prospective state of the local exchange with that of surrounding towns both in Kildare and Laois. Killenard is a useful little pointer to what is going on behind the scenes. Name: KILLENARD (population 500 max ? ) Code: KND STD: 57 Enabled: y ADSL1 Or 2: 1 Location: 53.133088 -7.148634 Area in KM2: 0.0 VDSL Program: y VDSL By Year: 2014 -------------------------> On the VDSL map NGB: n Fibre: Name: MONASTEREVAN (population 3,400) Code: MVA STD: 45 Enabled: y ADSL1 Or 2: 1 Location: 53.1388923 -7.064273 Area in KM2: 58.5 VDSL Program: n --------------------------> Not on the VDSL map VDSL By Year: NGB: n Fibre: So a much bigger town is not even registered on the map for an upgrade where a much smaller town (look at the coverage area for Killenard -->0 km !!! ) is due an upgrade next year. Doesnt make any sense does it ? " To which I got the following reply from Eircom Hi darchangel (I had sent this message on the 21/12/2012 sorry you did not receive) I have checked your line and I can confirm the fastest speeds you will get are around 7.6mb. I have looked into plans for your exchange and I also can confirm that there are provisional plans to upgrade your exchange by the second half of 2013. As plans are provisional they are subject to change and may be delayed or equally braught forward. Regards ... " Ive also contacted Suzanne Doyle and Jack Wall to see how they react to the above information. So fingers crossed, we may get some movement. If anyone picks up any news, please stick it into this thread and Ill do like wise. Heres a link to the boards thread in case of interest: www.boards.ie/ttfthread/2056837194Steve
