Tidy Towns are launching a new initiative to try and kickstart some improvements in the town. The are arranging to meet every Wednesday for April at 7pm at Super Valu. They are hoping to generate interest in Community Spirit. Come along, bring a friend or two, all you need is enthusiasm, a pair of gloves and a high viz vest.

Forester I wasn't going to be able to be there myself, I was going back into work. I think there was a poor enough turnout, I only counted 4 people. There were loads of posters up around town as well so it just wasn't on here. Hopefully it will be better next week.

I was only home from work at 7.30 but I did see the group near the bridge on the rathangan road. There were somewhere between 5 and 10 people. I hadn't seen any posters.
I'd like to say really well done to the group for making the effort. It makes a huge difference!
Stangely enough, later that evening I was watching some of an RTE programme called 'Dirty Old Towns' and it was amazing how much a motivated group of people can achieve when they just put in some hard work.

Glad to here that a few more joined them, I hope they keep it up and maybe through guilt, if nothing else, more and more people will help out. As JC says look at what Portarlington are capable of....

Did anyone notice the transition year students in conjunction with Tidy Towns, planting bulbs over the last number of weeks. I think Glanbia were involved in the project as well. Lets hops it all goes well and we will see lots of colour in the Spring. They will come just in time, soon after the Christmas lights are taken down.....
