Have seen lots of elaborate plans around in the last few years, most were of the two in the bush variety. I see the CYMS as a bird in the hand, it will take money and lots of it but will still be cheaper than anything else I've seen

i agree with archie, the plans for it consist of adding a second storey over the little dance floor. why can't they just get the thing opened for public use, see how it take's off before they decide to renovate it.

I was involved in two renovations of my old CYMS over the years and in both cases all the labour was supplied free from local builders, carpenters, electricians etc. and even some of the materials were provided free or at much reduced costs. How much voluntary work is envisaged for your CY?

How much voluntary work is envisaged for your CY? that's a joke, joe''.none unless you count the member's of the ''board''. there was only one man that i knew who could ever get this town off it's ass. mr jim rosney (rip) and when that man passed away so did the spirit of this town. all it need's is one good man or woman to pull this town out of the pit's and into great time's again. me myself am waiting for some-one to start it, i am a very shy man in person to person conversation.so let's hope that person or person's is reading this.

The first major renovation was in the 60s and the local PP was the driving force behind it. The 2nd time a group of interested people pulled it together. Maybe the person you need will ride in on a white horse and get the town going.

I was an advocate for the bird in the hand until I saw the 2 sets of plans for the CY. I'm not so sure now, maybe because I was much smaller in my youth but the CY really is much smaller than I remembered in my head. The floor are is just too small for a std sports hall, not big enough for a basketball court for example. If you leave sport out of it altogether, then yes go for it, but do fully understand it will never be big enough for a lot of sports. That doesn't mean it will not be of huge benefit to the Community, in fact it could be a right little hive of positive activity.

There seems to be quite a few people here expecting the CYMS (now named CWMS) to be opening again soon. I don't think this is the case at all. I think if they get the go ahead from KLP in terms of funding it will probably 2014 before it's redeveloped at best.
