Was "christ church" renamed St Patricks? The inside looks quite similar except for the large organ on the left?

No doubt you'll have recognised the Collegiate School (Setanta Hotel), we used to swim up at the Abbey river and leave our clothes and towels etc in Vanessas bower, she'd turn in her grave!!!

'Vanessa' was the lover of Jonathan Swift, her real name was Esther Van Homrigh (sp), she lived in the Abbey, obviously before it was the Abbey.. She used to sit in the bower (the little stone seat in the photo) and write him letters and read his.. Think she died of a broken heart because he was essentially a bollocks.. There is a photo of St Wolstans, where I went to school., it's only down the road from my house.. april I will have to bring you on a tour of the area, you're going to tell me now you've never seen the Obelisk or The Wonderful Barn!!

A friend of mine used to live in the house up until a few years ago.. We had some great times down there, I took lots of photos from the top of the motorway being built, and the meat packers being altered! to HP.

Amazing. The main street has hardly changed at all. I love the idea that the Bank of Ireland was a Bakery! Where is Oakley Park? Where is Lyons and how do you get to it? Have heard about this Lyons Village place and have been baffled as to where it is?

Have heard about this Lyons Village place and have been baffled as to where it is? You must be a friend of April's , she's only in Celbridge 17 years and is still finding her way round. You should get one of the "Welcome to Celbridge Historic Town" booklets. Oakley Park is the big house in St Raphaels John Of Gods grounds and is in behind the grotto area. To get to Lyons house go out the Ardclough Rd for about a mile and take a turn to the left for the house, you will see the sign post. Ignore the hairpin left turn before this which brings you back towards the train station via the Lord's rd. You can park and walk around the Lyons village area as you like and then go in for a cup of coffee or a drink, the restaurant menus have nice prices attached. The actual house is not open to the public but you can see it when approaching the car park.
