April, I think thats when your IE cant cope. Usually happens when downloading etc, But I stand to be corrected on that. Maybe if you have too many tabs and applications open it shuts down

Can you pick up viruses, trojans etc on forums .I thought Chew Chew , ably abetted by Joe, was keeping this one squeaky clean.

You can pick up viruses anywhere. Remember please that this is a FREE forum so there is no payment made behind the scenes therefore everyone is open to catching a virus should they open ANY of the adverts at the top of the page.

Anything can cause a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death)
The most common cause is a driver conflict. Installed any new hardware onto your pc lately? A camera, usb drive, external hard drive?
But like I said it could be anything. If it happens again, take a photo and make sure the error detail can be read fully.
Also, just by connecting to the internet you are receiving spyware which will slow down and sometimes interfere with the operation of your system. Depends on the viciousness of the spyware.
I'd recommend getting yourself a copy of Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition and also SpyBot Search & Destroy. Both are free. I can make them available in a direct link once I get my internet set up in the house if you'd rather wait for a secure link.
And one last thing! Internet Explorer is a net with big holes which viruses and spyware can easily manipulate. Installed any toolbars lately? Get rid of them. Even google toolbar. They take up resources that could be going towards more important things.
I know we've said it before, but get your hands on Mozilla Firefox 3. Its safe, secure and it has a bunch of handy add-ons and safety features.

Thanks for the help Campbells. Perhaps you can explain why sometimes when Chew Chew is in the forum the whole thing slows down and forum pages wont open.

Maybe she's a spam bot? I have a burning desire to re-write that. . . but I wont. . .
