Actually birds are starting to build nests. I don't live too far from there and I see magpies, robins and starlings around gathering up nest material.

Climate change I would say - actually I put out some seed heads from a clematis (fluffy)when I saw 2 robins gathering up nesting materials in my garden, about 2 weeks ago, it's all gone now, so I'm assuming the birds have helped themselves.

Not sure if you blame climate change as February temps are below average, so far.

Street lighting has a lot to answer for. I hear birds singing at 4am when it's dark out but the bloody street lights are on and have the birds all of a twitter. No wonder they're building their nests at the wrong time.

Not sure if you blame climate change as February temps are below average, so far. Average temperatures apparently are up. We have had a few springlike days, maybe that has confused them.

Average for February is 5.2C based on the last 30 or 40 years or so, the average so far this Feb is 3.8C Generally over the year temperatures have been rising for the last number of years.

And as beautiful as ever....good old starlings. I have to say, I have a lot of time for garden birds but I absolutely draw the line at starlings.

Starlings are beautiful and sadly are now in decline, for reasons unknown.
