I am making enquiries about the efficiency of a text alert system within estates in Celbridge or in the Celbridge are in general. As a result of continuous burglaries and break ins in our town and the surrounding areas, people are becoming increasingly anxious about their personal safety and the safety of their homes.
I am curious to find out if any housing estates or neighbourhood watch groups provide a text alert facility for their residents. I am interested to find out how the system was setup, who operates the system, as in, who sends out the texts informing members of particular activity in their areas, how much it costs to operate and what system is used to communicate with the members of the groups.
If any residents associations in the Celbridge area or the neighbouring areas have a system in place would you mind sharing your wisdom please!
Thanks in advance.

Wow, 28 views and nobody has any knowledge to share.
I am happy to share what I learned today from a resident in an estate in Celbridge which operates a text alert system.
* the system is available only to those who which to be part of it. * One person alone operates the sending of information to the listed members * everyone has a contact number for this one person, and if anything suspicious is going on a text can be sent to the person who operates the system * the person in charge then sends out a text to the listed members informing them of a break in, a car theft that has happened or that may be in the process of happening with the relevant numbers for the local guards station etc...included in the text * another feature that is available is useful for those at home on their own. If one is feeling unwell, or needs medical attention and cannot contact a family member, they can also contact the person in charge of the system as request that they contact a neighbour for help etc..
It would seem that the system will only operate efficiently if the person who takes on with the job of accepting texts and sending texts to the listed members has time on his/her hands and is open to receiving texts at anytime of the day or night.
Hope this information informs those who are interested in setting up a similar system in their area.

I think a facebook group has better chances of survival as anyone can enter info. Alerts can be sent to smartphones/PCs/tablets etc. via fb app and/or email from fb.
The text system requires much dedication from those who run it.

I am happy with the current system as I feel people are quite active in notifying each other of the comings and goings in our estate . Like you, my suspicions would be that it would be left up to the 'Residents Association' as ye were branded on the Facebook page to sort out the whole thing. Me thinks that someone likes to make the balls and expects others to throw them
